The club was saddened on Saturday afternoon as news of the passing of Timmy O Dwyer filtered through. Timmy was a renowned sportsman in his youth and represented Clonmel Commercials with distinction at all levels. A basketball player of renown Timmy tried his hand at many sports and acquitted himself very well As a Clonmel Commercials player Timmy won south and county honours at many grades and represented Tipperary at various levels. His strong athletic physique made him a formidable opponent on the playing fields of Tipperary and beyond. His son Anthony also played in the club colours and held many administrative roles as well as club Chairman. Shortly , after all Commercials games in recent years Timmy would check in with Anthony with a phone call to get the low down on the game.
